Anastasia Constantinou

A closer look at chemotherapy-induced flagellate dermatitis

Anastasia Constantinou - photo.PNG

I am Anastasia Constantinou, a year 5 medical student at the University of Cambridge. My interest in oncology sparked following my recent oncology placement and has since been reinforced by being involved in a service evaluation project in the field. Regardless of whichever specialty I choose to pursue in the future, I am sure that advancements in oncology will play a key role.

Nisal Karunaratne

Is Gold Nanoparticle Therapy the Ultimate Treatment Against Cancer?

Pic.jpg

My name is Nisal Karunaratne and I am a 3rd year medical student at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. I am also the Director of Haematology in the Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care (OHP) society in the medical school. My interest in oncology started during my oncology placements in my first year, where I saw for myself the devastating side effects of chemo and radiotherapy. This prompted me to search for better innovative treatments that can offer a better quality of life for the patient during and post-treatment and therefore reduce the emotional burden for both the families of the patient and doctors in charge of patient care. Most of all, I looked for treatments that had the potential to cure cancer once and for all and Gold Nanoparticle therapy was one of the promising treatments, that I found.

Dr Sarah Ritchie

Are the referral criteria met in patients with suspected or confirmed myeloma who are requested for Whole Body Low Dose CT (WBLDCT) within the Grampian trust?

8789.jpg

I am Dr. Sarah Ritchie and I studied at Sheffield Medical School, undertaking my Foundation Training at Forth Valley Royal Hospital. I have continued to move north and currently work as a General Medicine SHO at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. I became interested in Oncology during my training after witnessing the impact of cancer on patients and their families across a diverse range of specialties. I also saw how therapeutic and palliative interventions could make a significant difference to a patient’s quality of life.

I am passionate about both Oncology and Clinical Radiology and I aspire to become a Radiologist specialising in Interventional Oncology or Breast Radiology.
